Hello Unity Friends and Family,
"Offer Thanks For Everything"
What does it mean to “Offer Thanks” or to “Give Thanks”? Who and where are you offering or giving to? We can thank God but what does that even mean? God doesn’t need our gratitude. However, I need my gratitude and you need your gratitude. That’s what it comes down to. I need to discover and express gratitude for all aspects of my life. It’s not even necessarily about feeling grateful, so much as being grateful…just because you know there is good here somewhere. And we DO KNOW that there is GOOD here somewhere.
Too often I throw the good away because it doesn’t look like I had thought it would. One friend of mine told me how the greatest love of his life looked nothing like anyone he had ever dated. The person the opposite of anyone he had ever been attracted to, and yet, the first time he laid eyes on this being, he knew that this was the mate for him. They were together for many years until the one made his transition. When David met me, he had no idea that I was the one for him. Looked and behaved nothing like what he had envisioned as his life partner…until he looked more closely. Now we’re together almost seventeen years.
What if the job you never thought you wanted led to the one you did and the only way to get the job you want is to temporarily take the one you don’t?
What if being kind to someone who has betrayed you is the only path to peace?
What if…?
What if it is essential to your health and the health of all beings to find ways to be grateful? What if gratitude is just the acknowledgment of a Higher Power and you’re not it? Give thanks in all things and expect better results as a result.
Thank you, God! Thank you, God! Thank you, God! It’s a good mantra.
