An Insight From Emmet Fox

VWelcome Home Everybody,

“An Insight From Emmet Fox”

This week is another insight from one of our Antecedents of New Thought.  Today’s vision comes from New Thought author and teacher Emmet Fox.

The insight I have chosen comes from page 13 of his book The Sermon On the Mount.  “Now we can choose the sort of thoughts that we entertain.  It will be a little difficult to break a ‘bad’ habit of thought, but it can be done.  We can choose how we shall think—in point of fact, we always do choose—and therefore our lives are just the result of the kind of thoughts we have chosen to hold; and therefore they are of our own ordering; and therefore there is perfect justice in the universe.  No suffering for another man’s original sin, but the reaping of a harvest that we ourselves have sown.  We have free will, but our free will lies in our choice of thought.”

This is a fantastic teaching that sounds great but can be difficult to grasp if we have not yet accepted that we are as powerful as we are.  We must understand that there is no Cause but God.  There is no person, place or situation that requires a specific thought.  AND, it is my thoughts that create my experience of everything.  So Mr. Fox tells us, “Now we can choose the sort of thoughts that we entertain.”  My solution for that is to go within quickly and ask the Highest Voice within to tell me what to think.  “Spirit, tell me what to think about this so that I don’t make up a story that isn’t true.”  What I’m doing there is expressing my willingness to know this, whatever this is, in the most unlimited way.  I’m still going to have feelings, but this way I won’t be telling myself that my feelings are the Truth about this, whatever this is.

Begin to change your habits around your thinking.  If you already have, deepen the process.  Let all your experiences be conscious God experiences.

Oh, Such Blessings,

Rev. Shawn
