Freedom to Be

Hello Unity Friends and Family,
“Freedom to Be”

On Sunday I spoke of freedom.  I thought it was going to be about the 4th of July.  It turned out to be about freedom from guilt.  That freedom of guilt includes both having it and inflicting it.  Trying to make another guilty does not create love, it creates guilt and shame.  Guilt and shame are never productive until they are realized for forgiveness.

Sunday was also about the longing of our souls and how so many of us have been trying to satisfy our longing to know God or Love (same thing) through our physical senses rather than through Spirit within us.  Unity’s cofounder Myrtle Fillmore wrote in HOW TO LET GOD HELP YOU chapter seventeen “The Longing of Our Souls” that so many who use alcohol and drugs and any other thing to raise our sensation level are not to be hated or made to feel guilty but are to be reminded of what it is they really are seeking.  At the very least, we need to remind ourselves of what we have been seeking so that we may be free from the bondage of resentment and unforgiveness.

During this week of Freedom, Life, Liberty and Justice for ALL, let’s set all beings in all countries free to experience Love in their minds and hearts.  I know it’s idealistic, but we have to start somewhere.  Who would you set free along with yourself?

In Divine Freedom to Love,

Shaw
