Good Humor Stand Up Comedy Class

Have you always wanted to get onstage and do comedy?  Has it been a dream of yours to stand at a microphone and make people laugh?  Have you been terrified of trying?  Or just didn't know how to go about it?  Here is your chance.  In a nurturing, but confident atmosphere you will work together with Shawn and the other future comics for four Saturdays that will culminate in a Saturday night performance at Unity Center's Open Mic night on April 20th.

For his 41st birthday Shawn was offered a chance to appear in a stand-up comedy review in New York City. This was a life-long dream for Shawn as well as a terrifying prospect.   He took one month to prepare seven minutes. He went on to make thirty appearances in his first year and was nominated for a MAC award (Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs). Shawn's understanding of a great comic is one who is authentic, and creates comedy by doing what comes natural to him or her.  The style and  material that allows one comic to be funny isn't the same for another.  In four classes Shawn will work with each comic to create a great opening, a great closing and develop the material in between.

Rev. Shawn Moninger is an ordained Unity Minister, currently serving as Senior Minister of Unity Center of Norwalk as well as Staff Minister at Unity of New York.  Rev. Shawn is also a multi award winning stand up comedian and spoken-word artist.  Shawn and his partner David Friedman travel extensively speaking and offering workshops to New Thought communities and conventions throughout the United States.
